Why should I pre-register?
By submitting your resume in advance of the fair, you give participating schools the opportunity to read it before the day of the fair. This way, if they have an opening that seems suited to your background, they can request to speak with you in particular on the day of the fair. If you pre-register and submit your resume online, your resume will be distributed to participating schools at the fair so that they will already have a copy of your resume on hand when you speak with them that day.
I did not pre-register for the fair. May I still attend?
Yes. By all means!
Is there a cost for prospective
candidates to attend the Job Fair?
No, the Job Fair is free for prospective candidates.
Which schools will be at the Job
Fair?
Check the Participating Schools page for a list of currently
registered schools as well as a list of schools that
have attended past fairs.
Who will be at the Job Fair from
each school?
We encourage schools to bring a variety of representatives:
you may meet Heads of School, Division Heads, Admissions
Directors, teachers, students, parents, and/or
trustees.
Will there be formal interviews
at the Job Fair?
Most schools will not conduct formal interviews at the fair, though schools will have the opportunity to conduct formal interviews
in separate rooms, if they so choose.
Will I receive a job offer at the fair?
No. Participating schools do not believe that a short conversation is a proper basis for making a job offer. Since independent schools are mission-driven and seek faculty whose own teaching philosophies mesh with the school's approach to learning, a job offer will not usually be made until after a formal on-site interview has been conducted.
What happens after the Job
Fair?
If you brought a resume or submitted one through pre-registering, it will be distributed to all of the
schools who attended the Fair. Depending on what job
openings are available at the time, you may be contacted by
a school shortly after the Fair. Many schools keep the
resumes from the Fair on file so that they may be a
resource for recruiting for future positions. We encourage
you to follow up with schools and representatives to whom
you spoke as well.
Do I need to be certified to teach
in an independent school?
Not necessarily. While different schools have different
requirements regarding certification, many independent
schools do not require state certification. However, you
should check with schools individually to find out their
policies.
How many copies of my resume
should I bring?
We ask that you bring at least one copy of your resume (electronic or hard copy) so
that we can collect it at the door and copy it for all
attending schools. We encourage you to bring more copies
so that you can distribute them to individual schools if
you wish. If you do not have a resume, or you are "just
looking" rather than actively seeking a position, you are
certainly still welcome to attend the fair.
Where should I park?
Please park in the theater parking lot at Greenhills; if that
lot is full, there is another lot at the south end of the
school that you may use.
How can I find out more information
about the Job Fair?
